Wow, the drive up to the Denali area was amazing, even before hitting the park.
The Fall colors were out in full force. We kept stopping along the drive to take more photos. We made Bruce's charter boat halibut. We attempted to see the Northern lights again. There was a touch of purple and green between the clouds, but again more light pollution from the campground.
We spent a few nights outside the park recovering since we all caught a mild cold. But, we got to explore the outer area a little during that time. Anjuli stayed healthy longer so she drove into the park for the first 15 miles to scout it out and take photos. She got to see Denali. It was so great that we all went back that same day to drive it again, though Denali hid by that time. Most of the ground was covered in reds and yellows with interspersed evergreens which extended partway up the mountains, and with the snow capped mountains and water, it was all amazing. (you are only allowed to drive yourself the first 15 miles without a campground reservation further in the park - otherwise you have to take the bus/shuttle). So, we got to experience each 15 miles of the park for the first time on their own days.
