Frequently Asked Questions
When did you start RVing?
In 2023, we did a quick test weekend trip in state, followed by 2 weeks to Acadia/Nova Scotia, and 7 weeks to Utah/Arizona. In 2024, we went big with a trip spanning 6 months with 4.5 months in the RV.
Why did you start RVing?
We always loved traveling, but wanted a way to explore the country while keeping a more constant and comfortable environment for The Tiny One and home-cooked food.
Do you work?
Anjuli is a doctor (radiologist) in Vermont. Bruce is a former toxicologist turned stay-at-home dad with Jordan. Jordan is in photography development but quickly surpassed her mentor and looking for more advanced guidance.
How? Just... how?
Anjuli is fortunate to be able to work part-time and clump her time off to allow for extended tiny adventures.
How many states have you been to?
Counting based on The Tiny One, a total of 38 states and 10 Canadian provinces/territories.
How many national parks have you been to?
Counting based on The Tiny One, a total of 25 American and 8 Canadian.
What are your favorite national parks?
Zion
Yosemite
Banff
How long do you plan to RV for?
Many years...
How does Starlink work?
Pretty well. We only had trouble with tall trees and some parts of Alaska.
What program do you use to plan trips?
Roadtrippers
How does Jordan handle the drive days?
She does well as long as playgrounds and pops (popsicles) are involved.
Why a 5th wheel?
They have enough space for Jordan to run around (literally run around the island countless times). We like detaching the truck to go to trailheads and grocery shopping and such. It feels safer if we were to get in an accident. Only 1 engine to maintain. We can use the truck as our second vehicle when home even though it is a bit ridiculously large (at least it's not a dually).
How long do you spend at each site?
Our average is about 3 nights discounting the initial push across the country and return home for each trip. We suspect we will slow down more once we've scouted out the majority of locations.
Do you work on the road?
Anjuli doesn't do any clinical work on the road, but does some administrative correspondence.
How do you decide trips?
We have been trying to hit the major areas where the national parks are in a somewhat efficient manner before Jordan potentially goes to public school (if she does). For 2024, the plan was to get to California, and then once you drive out there you might as well go up the coast, and once you are there you might as well go to Banff, and once you are there you might as well go to Alaska. You can see how this can get out of hand.
Who cooks?
Anjuli makes pancakes. Jordan makes cookies. Bruce makes everything else and consumes most of it.
Who drives?
Jordan has concepts of driving. Anjuli has driven a few easy segments. Bruce has driven everything else, including the entire 2024 trip.
Who plans?
Anjuli
How do you divide up RV life duties?
Bruce does anything requiring tools greater than a screwdriver and relating to general truck/RV maintenance from a mechanical standpoint. Anjuli does the packing, organizing, unpacking both for trips and for moving sites.
Do you use a special navigation for RVs?
We almost entirely use google maps. When in questionable areas, we doublecheck with RV Life Trip Wizard. For things like the Yosemite tunnels, we did a lot of research ahead of time online.
How many hours does it take to plan each trip?
Countless. If I had to guess, maybe 100-200 hours.
How long can you travel that fast?
We need some recuperation days around 5-6 weeks.
Do you make any money from this blog?
No
How big is the Brinky?
34'11" in length.
How often do you have to dump the tanks?
Black tank has never actually filled up on us, but we dump it maybe every 5-6 days to not let that happen. We dump gray tanks every 3-4 days using liberally, but can conserve to a week if needed. We've only ever hit full once where it back up the kitchen sink.
How do you manage the house while away?
Mail is forwarded to Anjuli's mom. Water and propane shut off. Neighbors check on the house.
Did you travel growing up?
Not really
How big is the truck?
21.5' in length.
Do you know anybody else traveling part-time in an RV this much?
No, partially why we started this blog.
Where are we all from?
Bruce - Wisconsin
Anjuli - New York
Jordan - Colorado
Do you have any money saving tips?
Not really. Other RV sites and youtubers cover that much better.

Not really, Anjuli's friend gave us a 1 hour crash course and she did a basic online photography course, but mostly just making it up.

Photos - Adobe Lightroom
Videos - iMovie
How many playgrounds has Jordan been to?

Which were the coolest lakes?

How long were the trips?
Nova Scotia - 2 weeks
Utah & Arizona - 7 weeks
Ultimate Trip 2024 - Part 1 was 12.5 weeks, Part 2 was 8 weeks.
