79. Valdez, Alaska - Lu-Lu Belle Cruise

We had booked a cruise for a specific day on the Lu-Lu Belle with Captain Fred out of Valdez, but we saw the weather was going to be great the day before our day, and our day was going to be cloudy/rainy. We checked the the office, and they had room to accommodate our switch which was great!

We got up at a reasonable time and headed to the docks. We boarded the ship and headed out to sea. We took lots of pictures of all the nice mountains as we cruised along, though not many turned out well due to the intense sun. The weather was great all day. Jordan loved walking around the boat. She got lots of comments in her purple jump suit.

Captain Fred took us by a lot of sea lions as well as some puffins and seals. We got up close to the Columbia Glacier and got to sit there for a while waiting for it to calve, but no sizable chunks were breaking off at that time. It was amazing to see just how big it was up close though. We cruised through a field of icebergs on the way in and out.

The next day, Bruce went out fishing on a charter boat for salmon. He caught 4 nice salmon and grilled one up that night for dinner. We decided in the future it was worth having the place package it up for us to avoid the mess.

While Bruce was out fishing, Jordan and Anjuli hit the town. They had an early lunch down by the docks, watched seals from the dock, and made cookie-brownies and proceeded to eat them up.

Next, we headed across the state towards the Kenai peninsula...
