Part 2 of the epic drive up the Alcan...
The first stop after Muncho lake was Liard Hot Springs. We only made a single swim stop, but would recommend staying overnight if you can so you can go multiple times. We saw a black bear immediately as we entered the parking lot. There is a fence around the parking area, but you walk through the fence to go to the hot springs. We brought our bear spray with us. The water temperature was perfect. Some areas were a little too hot to bring Jordan in and some areas were slightly cooler, but overall great and allowed people to pick what they wanted. It had a more natural feel than some other hot springs that we have been to.
Next was Watson Lake. This is the town known for the signpost forest. It is a huge area filled with large posts covered with every sign you can think of. We added Jordan's sticker on the back of another sign underneath Keep Your Daydream, since we are fans of them. Jordan also added a sticker to the back of the Brinky while we were there. A third sticker was also placed on one of the random tractors in the picnic area.
We took a slight detour the next day on the way to Whitehorse. We stopped at the Carcross desert, which was well worth the detour for Jordan to play in the sand. We got some fun photos there.
Just up the road, Emerald lake was another nice photo spot, a small pull off sort of place.
While in Whitehorse, we went to Klondike Rib & Salmon for dinner and desert. It had a nice atmosphere. This was the last major town/city before Alaska.
