This was our hodge podge day of driving. We were based out of Monument Valley KOA still. We started out at Goosenecks State Park, which was a cool overlook, but overall a quick stop.
Then we headed up to Moki Dugway, which has become a favorite name in our family because, come on, who doesn't love saying Moki Dugway? It is a switchback road with a steep grade up a cliff side. I believe it was an old mining path. Right before we started our way up, a large boulder fell onto the road. They were started to work on clearing it and had done just enough for us to get around it, but it made us nervous for what could happen on that road. By the time we were coming down, it was almost completely gone (see picture 2 above). There was a weird goblin-looking rock on the way down. I wouldn't describe the drive itself as something you MUST experience, but it was cool. We more wanted to get to the views from the road up top. This is NOT a road for an RV.
Muley point was the amazing view shown here. We stopped and made lunch in the truck bed. Jordan made herself at home after driving all morning. You can see tiny Monument Valley in the distance.
Lastly, we headed through Valley of the Gods on our way back. It was a somewhat rough road, but not horrible. Some people online said that it was better than Monument Valley, but I'm not sure I would say that. There were scattered people boondocking out there, which would have been great for a more off-road RV than ours. We enjoyed the drive and would do it again though. Anjuli thought the Monument Valley rock formations had more of a sheen than Valley of the Gods, which were rougher looking and not quite as cool to photograph. On the drive back, we saw the Mexican hat rock formation and the famous Forest Gump section of road.
The big GC was next...
