16. Monument Valley

The road to monument valley was expectedly easy so Anjuli drove once again. For some reason, this ridiculously windy lunch stop for subway is a happy memory for Anjuli. It was nothing remarkable, just funny how windy it was for a toddler and wondering if the stray dogs were going to come too close. It's just an example that you never know where the happy memories will come from.

We stayed at the Monument Valley KOA and they gave us the premier spot with our dinette facing some nice rock formations. It also overlooked the horses that people can ride.

We hiked the wildcat trail that looped through the mitten rock formations. It was flat except for the initial descent and end climb out. The rock formations are even more incredible up close. The wind started picking up again on the way out (the first day it was prohibitively windy making it impossible to stay outside so we did laundry).

We drove the first third or so of the 17 mile scenic drive before we couldn't see because of all the dust and were annoyed how slow we had to drive because of the truck's stiff suspension on the super rocky terrain. We were also out of time based on the Jordan nap schedule. We will do it again next time when we are better prepared.

The next day we checked out the nearby points of interest...
