15. One More Moment Of Glory Before COVID Hit At Zion

Our next adventure was to Zion Canyon Overlook.

We drove through the park since we weren't towing the RV and somehow found parking with our super long truck and did the short hike. It was mostly flat with maybe a short climb at the beginning. Looking back, there were signs that Jordan wasn't at the top of her game - see the last picture. This was like 10am so she should not have been tired.

Jordan worked up a fever that afternoon and Anjuli wasn't feeling great either and so took a covid test. It was clearly positive, the first time for any of us. This was unexpected since the only real contact we had with people was on the Zion shuttle, so we blamed that. Bruce got sick a few days later so at least we were staggered. After about 2 days of being sick with fevers and cold-like symptoms, Anjuli and Jordan were as good as new. Bruce took a few more days with severe body aches.

After going stir crazy isolating in the RV, Jordan decided it was time to head out so she took the wheel and got us on the road. Luckily, we did our top excursions at Zion in the first half of our stay there and so we weren't disappointed that we couldn't do any more hikes there. Anjuli had booked us for 10 nights to be able to fully immerse ourselves there, which gave us enough cushion to isolate without the stress of moving. We headed over to Antelope point RV park and did a super easy walk from the parking lot to the lake, which was literally 100m max, but felt much more difficult because of being post-covid.

The next day we got to see Horseshoe bend on a very windy day. I can see why people go for sunrise or sunset as we had to walk among buses of people and the lighting wasn't great.

From here we continued onward to Monument valley...
