Luckily we planned ahead a litte bit on the way back and decided to book the shuttle to Moraine lake to go see Larch Valley.
Again, we weren't sure how Jordan would do in the hiking backpack, but she had a break from it for a while so we decided to give it a try. Bruce asked Anjuli if she would rather do the hike by herself to be able to take nice photos and go further, or all go together and go as far as Jordan wants. The decision wasn't hard - hiking together would be more fun even if we didn't get the most amazing views. Good scenery with an adorable tiny subject and photographer is better than amazing scenery by itself any day. We stopped at Moraine lake to power up the munchkin with leftover pizza before getting started. This proved to be a good decision. Usually, we rush off to get started and end up trying to eat bits and pieces as we move along. This was key to keeping Jordan happy and we slowly hiked up the switchbacks at the beginning.
Once we hit the larches, it was all amazing. The snow capped mountain peaks and bright gold trees were unbelievable. We didn't even know these existed before. We hit the gold colors perfectly in terms of seasonal timing. The hike got a lot flatter up there as well.
When we got to the top of our planned hike, we all sat an enjoyed the view and ate some snacks. You can go further up into the pass, but we didn't want to push it. Jordan did amazingly getting up there and it was a perfect end of the trip activity.
The Tiny Photographer did her last photo shoot of the trip up there before we departed home.
