38. Joshua Tree NP

We made it to California!

On our first full day in California, we headed into Joshua Tree National Park. We went straight to Ryan mountain and hiked up to the top. There were great views the whole time. Jordan did some baby yoga on the rock pile on the top. She also loaded up Bruce's pack with rocks. We stopped at Keys view as well for a nice viewpoint.

After a break in the afternoon, we headed back in to Skull rock which had some nice climbing rocks around it for Jordan. We only stayed for a few minutes though since it was getting close to sunset.

We quickly drove over to the cholla cactus garden for sunset, which was a great experience. The cacti really lit up with the sunset around their edges. Bruce got the classic baby running into the sunset desert picture here and she got another tiny photo.

If that wasn't enough, we drove back towards the campground across the park as the last light faded and stopped at the Hidden Valley parking lot for some star-gazing. Apparently, we were prepared and brought blankets, pillows, and popcorn for the truck bed setup.

The last day, we hiked the Hidden Valley Nature Trail, a nice short loop trail. Jordan hiked the first half herself and loved it. She liked all of the climbing rocks available. We had to watch her carefully because she would keep climbing higher than she should.

From there, we headed over to Sequoia...
