After leaving Hershey in the morning, we made it to Shenandoah National Park in the late afternoon.
We drove along part of Skyline Drive on the way to Big Meadows Campground. There were some nice views along the way, but the season was suboptimal. I'm sure it would be amazing in other seasons, like the Fall. We had booked a spot that was long enough, but what we didn't know from a map was that it was on a significant hill and was a narrow road into a narrow spot, a combination for frustration with a large RV. The park ranger saw us struggling and offered us a different spot since they had space, so we went over and got partially set up. Then he came back and told us we had to move to another spot since someone had booked that spot in the last few minutes. So, we had to hook back up and move again. It was a struggle getting out of that spot due to a tree in a difficult position. Eventually, we got set up and knew what to look out for in the future. Jordan got her first national park sticker of the trip, though we will be back on a different trip to explore more.
The next day brought another drive to New River Gorge. Jordan monitored pizza creation at Domino's.
We stopped by the New River Gorge National Park visitor center on our way into town. We looked at the overlook and the bridge, and basically let Jordan run around for a bit while we waited for check-in time at the campground.
The drive into the campground was a bit iffy. It was pretty steep with overhanging branches, but we made it. Nothing too remarkable happened there, but we had our first time packing up in the rain, which taught us to dump the tanks at night if it's going to rain in the morning.
