More adventures along Icefields Parkway.
Jordan did the hike down to Mistaya Canyon and took some photos. It was another nice, short one.
Later on, we went to Bow Lake and just stayed by the lake next to the parking lot rather than doing the hike from there. It was great. Jordan was very photogenic in her orange REI vest. That random headshot turned into her preschool photo since she missed school photos, and also got uploaded to her medical file at the pediatrician.
Sunset occurred very late up there at that time of year, like 9-10pm, so Jordan and Bruce were already asleep. Anjuli went up on the RV roof to watch and photograph sunset. There were a lot of clouds, but still got some color. The roof was the ideal location because you can see in all directions at all of the mountains.
The next morning we woke up to some pretty low batteries and snow.
We decided to try hiking Parker ridge, which was a mistake. It was pretty cold and had deep snow which started just beyond the parking lot. Jordan did well on the way up, but was extremely upset when she had to go back in the backpack to go down and screamed the entire way without fail. She couldn't hike down herself because of the deep snow. At least we didn't have to worry about accidentally sneaking up on a bear.
After getting back to the RV, the batteries had charged a surprising amount. We assume it had to do with the snow reflecting more light to the panels or something like that. Regardless, we didn't to peace out early and head to Banff to be more comfortable since the forecast wasn't any better for the coming days and at least we would have power and be able to stay nice and toasty. These pictures were from the drive out. There was a cool snow line as we increased in elevation, and then the wind had blown so hard sideways that only one half of each tree was covered. Everywhere had a nice frosted look in general.
