50. Lassen Volcanic NP & Redwoods NP

Lassen Volcanic National Park was changed to an overnight pit stop only after we heard it would be partially closed and snowed covered in the higher parts at that time of year.

We at least did a short hike (Manzanita lake loop) around the lake by the visitor center. Jordan wasn't feeling it though so we moved quickly and went back to the RV. It would be nice to go back in better weather and see what else there is to explore.

We found a nice, big playground on the drive over to redwood. On our way in, however, we stopped to pick up our Subway lunch and didn't realize the parking lot exit had a steep downhill to flat road and we scraped the bottom of our bike rack. No harm done, but that was a close call. We could have backed out the way we came in, but it was a busy road and preferred not to unless absolutely necessary.

We stayed at Elk Country RV Park Resort. We had a great large site that backed up to a hill with a pond at the top. Jordan liked climbing up there. The tall trees blocked our starlink of course, but other than that is was perfect. Jordan's bedroom windows always had the best views.

The next day, we hit up Fern canyon, the one from Jurassic Park 2 filming. This was where Jordan really came into her own as a tiny hiker. She splashed across the many stream crossings with her own hiking poles, climbed over logs, and charged up hills. It was all super adorable.

That evening, we headed a few minutes away to the beach for sunset, which we had entirely to ourselves.
