Yosemite... a big highlight and the original destination of this trip.
We drove in through the Wawona tunnel without issue. We got to see tunnel view upon entering the park, which was amazing. We couldn't stop since we had the RV and the parking lot was full. We remembered to stop by the water fill this time and got fully loaded since Yosemite doesn't have any electric, water, or sewer hookups at the campsites. We were amazed both driving in through the valley and waiting at the water fill station and looking all around us. We rolled over to our site and got set up easily. [Getting the campsite itself was more difficult since we only fit into 4 sites in the park and they release the whole month at once. We had to both try on 2 devices at the strike of 10am and we were able to get one]. The site was perfect. It had the sun we needed for our solar on top of the RV and for the portable panels that go with our Jackery solar generator that we use for backup.
The first evening, we took out the bikes and rode to Mirror Lake. That was a nice short ride from the campground on roads without traffic. Jordan loved running around on the little beach area by the water.
The next day, we did the Mist Trail to Vernal Falls then over to Clark point and back. We didn't go to Nevada Falls because of the distance. Jordan wanted out of the pack by the time we crossed the bridge at the beginning. So we let her out and she proceeded to hike up the entire climb by the waterfall to the top of Vernal Falls. Jordan really surprised us and impressed the many fans she gained on the way. Nothing was going to stop that little 3-year-old in her rain suit and boots. We all got soaked. We brought the happy birthday banner to the top with us since Anjuli's little nephew was born early that morning. She continued hiking after the break at the top until we forced her back into the pack so we could get back sooner. She fell asleep on the way down until we got back to the bikes. That evening, we returned to Mirror Lake again for some more rock climbing.
That night before going to bed, we checked the Yosemite website and saw that Glacier Point Road was open to bikes only starting the next morning... the exact moment we were hoping to hit by going in this season.
