June 2023: We embarked on a 2 week trip to Maine and Nova Scotia with some minimal experience and fridge full of food.
We stopped in Belfast, ME for the first night to visit Anjuli's family. Then, we continued on to Acadia National Park for 3 nights. The first hike was Jordan Pond Path, in honor of our tiny Jordan. We were glad we brought rain gear sheltering Jordan in her backpack. It was a nice easy hike around the pond with no elevation change.
The next day we had nicer weather, did the coastal drive, and hiked the famous beehive trail. There is a kid-safe option that avoids the cliff area. The picture of Anjuli walking down the rocks was about as steep as it was. We stopped for our snack break only like 5 minutes from the top, not knowing that we were that close, but it was a great view as well. When we got back to the truck, we tested out eating in the truck bed. It worked well, but we never used this option again due to the hassle. It was perfect here though since we had parked along the road and otherwise would have had to eat in the truck. Jordan got to add her Maine sticker.
We made pancakes from scratch and tested out french toast sticks for Jordan, paired with our homemade maple syrup from our maple trees back at the house in Vermont. Jordan also investigated where she could fit in the truck and worked on maintaining her climbing skills. Next we crossed the border to Canada...
