We rescheduled our flight for a day later to go from 2 layovers to 1 layover to improve chances of not getting stranded somewhere and it was well worth it.
The whole day went smoothly with a layover in Denver and then picking up the RV and stocking up the fridge and pantry with nearly $400 of groceries, on top of the pantry items we still had. We drove 1.5 hours to the first stop at a KOA near Crater Lake. A long travel day, but at least no bad surprises.
We spent our 1 day at Crater Lake National Park doing the Watchman Peak trail. It was a nice, short hike up to a peak with great views. The water was such a deep blue. It was the darkest blue comparing with all the glacial type lakes we've seen. There were swarms of butterflies, which was pretty crazy. We've never seen anything like that before. Somehow none of them hit us, despite there being hundreds of them at a time.
