We have crossed the border 8 times total in our RVs. We have never had any trouble, but it's good to be prepared.

They ask how long you will be in Canada, where you are going, what you do for a living, etc.
Windows down, sunglasses off, truck off (loud diesel engine at least), driver talks unless passenger is asked something.
Fresh fruits and vegetables, anything with a seed, they might not let you take and so we would finish those before crossing.
The fish Bruce caught in Alaska was fine, but they left the skin on it so it could be identified.
Any unpackaged meats, don't bring. I'm sure there are more food considerations, but these were the ones that applied to us.
They always ask about alcohol, drugs, weapons, and large amounts of money, but we didn't bring such things. We did bring bear spray, which is ok, but not pepper spray.
They looked inside our RV maybe 2 times out of the 8 crossings. They were only in there for maybe 30 seconds. We just opened it up and put down the stairs and they walked in and out. It was probably pretty clear we are a family just doing normal family things.
They asked for our registration at the 8th crossing, which caused a slight scramble since we didn't have it out, but got it quick enough.
Passports, obviously.
